I'm very sorry I havent written to you lately. I was mad at you...mainly the app I have to write to you that posted grainy pictures. The update after christmas especially made them look like they were taken from a security camera. But guess what? I finally looked through the options and figured out how to fix it.

I also noticed you lost some of my old photos...which kind of ruined my trust for you. I still am a little bruised by this but I figured the whole poor image quality thing was my fault we could let bygones be bygones.

I've always had an interesting relationship with my name. As a kid growing up in Albany New York - a place that a a pretty urban feel - my name stuck out like a sore thumb.

Max, Chad, Brad, Mike....

These were cool names. I probably would have been even worse off if I had come of age more centrally in the 80s as coolness was shifting from Charlie Sheen to Leonardo Dicaprio.

But let's face it, when your playing hoops with some kid names shaquan you don't want them shouting "Oliver pass me the rock". Too artsy and too European.

I've had a lot of people say they know or have dogs named Oliver. And have had a lot of folks give me interesting nick names that are usually derivatives of Ollie.

Ollie Ollie ovenfree, Oliver twist, Oscar (the grouch) odubya, odiznobbies, odub, olliebear, odies, Wong, O, Revilo etc.

My name actually means peace and has correlation to the meaning of my Chinese name. And I think it's fitting since thats an important value in my life.

But in the end I'm glad my name isn't brad. I like my name and all of the nick names that go along with it.

Have you ever found yourself in the middle of a marketing scheme to which you feel completely invincible? You feel like superman. That is me at hobby lobby.

There is virtually nothing I would bring myself to buy there. Indeed if I were given a gift card to HL I would give it to a homeless person.

I just wonder who is getting sucked in here and how could I be so different in taste from them?

If the projected heaven of individuals is portrayed by the goods and services people desire most do me and these people go to the same place in the afterlife?

One of the things that my mother (of all people) associates with relaxation is reading what she calls "trash mags". It's not unusual to find one of these packed in he beach bag or carry-ons.

This perspective has been integral in informing my paradoxical love hate relationships for soft tabloids. Upon picking up this issue I ruffled my brow sarcastically but a smaller man somewhere in my heart leapt to say

Had fun at the Keyes house tonight. It made me laugh when we saw this taped outlet and found out it was a safety measure against an electrical fire cause by ant colonization.

Something just reminded me that when I was in middle school and high school I would often draw up a list on conversation pieces BEFORE I would call a girl on the phone.
