The Holidays

Detail Girl

The Santa Clause at Barnes and Noble had a real beard and was very kind and quiet which I think caught Rose's attention. He also had a "little gray spot in his beard" which is apparently NOT what the Santa at Mauldin house of lights had yesterday.

Thus Rose came to the conclusion that he "must be someone dressed up like him."

Watch out. Kid is a detective.

Naming the poo

Leo's favorite past time is giving names to his 'poopies'.

He always asks first, "Daddy I need to go poo poo!"

"okay!"

"I need you to wipe me!"

I come into the room and he's touching his toes.

"I made a..."

(Ice cream cone, turtle, the great pyramid...) depending on the day

Today he has a diarrhea flu and found a new one...

"Syrup...!"

"and den I'm gonna make a pancake..."

If it is a string

Leo can't keep his hands off it. Especially if it an electric cord. Or a goody string. Attached to a hoody. That I'm wearing.

Baby bear's first Christmas

Leo: "No."
My entire family is sick as dogs this week yet I'm the only one who DIDN'T get the flu vaccine. Go figure.

Elf

We never buy DVDs anymore since having kids. No time to watch them I guess. This year it struck me to buy elf however because it's kid friendly and it's the kind of DVD you can't get when you want to watch it.

Plus the kids love it! :)

Dear Santa...

Swiped No Swiping!

I wonder why all the candy canes left are on the TOP of the tree?

Revilo

I've always had an interesting relationship with my name. As a kid growing up in Albany New York - a place that a a pretty urban feel - my name stuck out like a sore thumb.

Max, Chad, Brad, Mike....

These were cool names. I probably would have been even worse off if I had come of age more centrally in the 80s as coolness was shifting from Charlie Sheen to Leonardo Dicaprio.

But let's face it, when your playing hoops with some kid names shaquan you don't want them shouting "Oliver pass me the rock". Too artsy and too European.

I've had a lot of people say they know or have dogs named Oliver. And have had a lot of folks give me interesting nick names that are usually derivatives of Ollie.

Ollie Ollie ovenfree, Oliver twist, Oscar (the grouch) odubya, odiznobbies, odub, olliebear, odies, Wong, O, Revilo etc.

My name actually means peace and has correlation to the meaning of my Chinese name. And I think it's fitting since thats an important value in my life.

But in the end I'm glad my name isn't brad. I like my name and all of the nick names that go along with it.

I swear machines have feelings. This coffee maker of ours hasn't worked consistently for the longest time. Then as soon as I'm talking switch hitter it's the prodigal son.
