Oliver and I are taking classes with the Bair Foundation to possibly become foster parents. Our last class we met for was our CPR and First-Aide training. On this particular day we had concocted a delicious recipe for slap-happiness. Oliver had been up since 5 a.m. and spent his day in meetings and prepping for class. I had been up since 6 a.m. with Rose and Leo trying to keep good positive energy and a smile on my face while being inside all day (it was like 99 degrees out) with no car or adults to talk to. There we were at 7 p.m., no kids, CPR dummies, visions of "The Office" season 5 episode 13 dancing through our heads..... our instructor had to stop and ask what we were giggling at... twice.
Alright, sit down and stop begging, really! I'll share with you why we were giggling...
Before initiating CPR you must send for help. In class you'll recall "YOU! Go get the AED pads!" "YOU! Call 911!" with a distinct finger point and sometimes inserting an identifying prompt, "YOU in the red shirt! Go get the AED pads!"
Well, we were just imagining what different identifying prompts one might possibly say in the heat of the moment. You know, the kind of identifying characteristics that you try to act like you don't notice but can't stop looking at?
"YOU! With the unibrow! Call 911!" "YOU! with the knobby knees! Go get the AED pads!"
Got any good ones? We'll giggle for sure. Okay, if that didn't make you laugh watch this. If you still don't laugh, check your pulse...

I saw TD Jakes in my back seat...
May the gestapo shut down this blog if Rose was not preaching word for word a TD Jakes sermon from last week.
It was about standing firm on God's promises. Like a dog not letting go.
"Grrr Gimme My Job," Rose said. "Gimme my wife."
lol
"you can blog it daddy!"

P's & Q's
A certain credit card company has called my house phone every morning at 8:00am sharp for the past 2 weeks... until this morning.
Saturday morning I calmly spoke with the creditor on the other line and explained how I am not Cheryl Greenwell and asked him if he could "please" help me have my phone number cleared from their record. I appreciated someone who listened and really helped me, I think he appreciated someone who didn't cut him off mid-sentence to then hang up. I thanked him for being patient and helpful and we wished each other great days. Thanks mom for teaching me to say please and thank you, it feels good.

Phone?
Dad
Today's my dad's birthday. I've been thinking about some of the things he's taught me through the years:
- Less is more; especially when it comes to your haircut.
- The best place to take a nap is in a movie theater.
- Push yourself to the limit and beyond.
- Exercise and read; everyday.
- Talk and listen to everyone, you'll probably learn something.
- The point of being a man is to give; not to take.
- Family comes first.
- If you can help, do it.
- LOVE food.
- Try to look at things from the other perspective.
- Real men tuck their shirts into their underwear.
- Sweating while you eat is a manly sentiment.
- You need a cool signature.
- Celebrate victory, with ice cream if available.
- Never eat at P.F. Chang
- Analyze things.
- Make a lot of pun jokes.
- If your karate gi doesn't stand up on its own, it's not ready to wash.
- Being up at odd hours of the night helps you to think differently, which is a good thing.
- Knowledge never rests, but people do ;)
