Contradictory Wisdom

Which do you think is a better piece of advice:

The definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and expecting different results.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

Can't you try things the same way and expect different conditions yielding different results?

Insanity has nothing to do with the person or thing you are observing: "He is insane." "This is crazy." Is has something to do with expectation. "I expect my son to this or that and he does not."

Thus insanity is one of two things:

(1) Your understanding of what is happening.

(2) Your acceptance of what is happening.

Since (1) is not in your control. (2) Is a better strategy.

Trusting GOD and other diety is still a third strategy to deal with things we do not understand or control, but that is beyond my understanding, thus crazy solution.

Cheers.

I've been thinking about this one today... I think you have to first consider the recipient or audience of these two pieces of advice: the "insanity defined" quote is often aimed at adult audiences while the "try again" quote is often aimed at children. Maybe the difference is hope or loss of hope.
I would also say the "insanity defined" quote has been aimed at me and my generation most times I've heard it applied, but "try again" is an older generation's advice. This seems fitting as our generation is explained in studies as difficult to satisfy, whether it be our relationships or jobs we lack a sense of loyalty and commitment.
But if I had to select a "better piece of advice" I would say "try, try again". Which is prob good for you (that I'm old fashion and conservative!) b/c that would mean I hope and strive to be your LOYAL wife. Now about the loyalty to my job........haha
